My god, since I saw that this game was on XBLA, I have been playing it almost nonstop! Perfect Dark was one of my absolute favorite FPS games, and by far my favorite N64 game, so of course I would love an updated version.
Here's a comparison video with both the N64 version and the XBLA version:
I noticed that most of it has become a lot easier with the right stick replacing the N64's "C" buttons, but the very specific aiming has become harder for me. Also, the bots are supposed to be smarter, but I often catch them running into small bits of wall sticking out and getting stuck. Also, in the Combat Simulator, the expert bots are crazy hard. Seriously, I could unload full clips at them and not kill them, but two shots from them and I'm dead. And they all greatly prefer the use of explosives, which they seem to have perfect aim with for some reason.
I'm pretty sure that in the N64 version of the game, I unlocked at least 25 challenges, but on this one, I can barely complete 20. But then again, I can run through the solo game on Agent without getting hit the entire way through... I completed the Duel level on Special Agent using only my fists for an achievement. For those who don't know the level, it's just like it sounds. You start with your back to a NPC, take a few steps forward, then gain control. First person to land a shot wins. If you punch, though, the first one goes down with one hit, but the second takes quite a bit more, and all it takes is one punch from them to kill you. But I did it on my first try.
Anyway, I beat the game on Agent already, and unlocked all the guns. Now I'm trying to finish the challenges and beat the story mode on Perfect Agent, which is nowhere as near as hard as I thought it would be.
So... Anyone else around here have any interest in this game? I know at least one person does, whether or not they actually post here, since all they have played is the N64 version...

I haven't played the updated version but the old N64 game was one of my favourites i used to like opening lifts throwing in the automatic briefcase gun and letting them go down and clear anyone waiting below.... I think i may have to just get myself an Xbox, though I'm not a big gamer these days Great game though id recommend the original to anyone and if the update is as good (or better) then definitely give it a go.

Believe me, the update is just as good as the original... Hell, all it is is the original with updated graphics, controls, and sim AIs...

I've played the updated version myself too. Although, it seems they took out a few features, like being able to adjust how much life percent a player has and such. But, that being the only con I can find, the pros win out. Better graphics and stuff, online play. Ah, I love Perfect Dark. Always been a fan of it since the N64 days. :3

Oh yeah... They did completely redo the Combat Simulator menu, and also eliminated the two player challenge trick in the process... I had forgotten that there was the handicap option in the original...

Oh yeah, I'm gonna miss being able to do challenges with two players. That's unfortunate. >: Meh, oh well. Still plenty of fun regardless, right? ^^

No, you can still do them with two players, up to four like in the original. The completion exploit using two controllers has been removed, however, due to the new menu system.
