Skin pack update!



For those who don't know, this is the Jedi_HF model from Jedi Academy. This is my reskin to match my Jedi_HM monochromatic reskin. Still needs work, especially on the solid gray spots on the top of the shirt and shoulders...

Comments would be greatly appreciated.

Which head do you guys think looks best? I think the one on the far right...

The one in the center is pretty neat, too.

I dunno... It seems a bit flat to me.

It's just that I like this face with dark hair better. Try to adjust the colors so that the hairstyle will be more apparent. Maybe dark brown with mead colored accents? I'm curious how would it look like, really.

I tried something like that... Really didn't go too well... :/

Aw. That's a pity ;/ Darker hair would fit better, but I must compliment your work on the blonde version, the hairstyle looks briliant.

Hope you will post and update if you ever try again with the dark hair

The main reason I am trying to get away from the dark hair is that pretty much every skin I have made for this game has had pale skin and dark hair. I need to do something different.

But I also stand by my previous statement that it seems too flat the way it was with dark hair.

Made a head reskin for the Jedi_KDM model... On the left is the original skin, on the right is my reskin:



To be honest, I just got bored and started messing around with photoshop. How that turned into giving this guy a robot head, I have no clue. I like the way it turned out though.

Started working on armor for the Jedi_KDM model:



Arms, shoulders, and part of the neck are incomplete.

I was gonna make a comment about the arms too, but since it's incomplete, I'll withhold it.

I like what you're doing with the skin. Though in a way, turning it into a robot reminded me of the borg (probably because I just finished reading Chris' journal. ) Anyway, the armor's looking good. Though on the front of the gray armor skin, on the vhest it looks like you missed a spot. It's the small triangle shaped cutout area that should be red, but it looks black, though it could just be because my comp settings.

Trust me, it's red. It's just hard to see that it's red. :p

Once I am done with this skin, I've got three more to complete for the skin pack before I can start on what I promised. One reskin each for the RM, ZF, and TF models.

Much better. It's looking good. About the hands, why not make a version with the hands as is, and one with them changed, and go from there?

Due to the way the .skin file is set up, the hands are attached to the torso. So, to do what you would say, it would have two torsos that are exactly the same, except for the hands. I'm not too fond of doing things like that.

I could just edit the .skin files so that the hands are attached to the head instead, like it is with most the other species, but that's a lot of work for something like that.

I suppose I could just add in the hand's texture code with the head and leave everything else as it is now, but the problem with that is that if you select the head first, then change the torso, the hands are reset. So you'd have to choose the torso you want first, then the metallic head in order to get the metallic hands as well.


I suppose I could just make the hands so that they match that particular torso, but if any other torso were chosen, the hands wouldn't match the head...


What to do, what to do...

So I added color customization... To make the chosen colors look better, I desaturated the customizable parts and brightened them so they look white as a base. Makes the base skin look a bit 'flat', but oh well... That's why the color options are there! :p



I plan on darkening the color parts on the boots a little bit. Dunno why the fingertips look so red in that image, they aren't really that red... Weird.

I like the red one the most.

Well, the thing was designed to be red, as seen in previous screenshots. :p

In order for it to satisfy those who might want it other colors, though, I had to make the base skin's colored parts white(ish) so that the color can be defined ingame.

So I started on the Jedi_RM skin next...



If you're thinking that parts of it look familiar... It's because I took the pants from my monochrome Jedi_HM skin and slapped it onto this model (oddly enough, this model has the same texture mapping as the HM model for the legs) with the exception of the boots, which are slightly different, and part of the torso is a modified version of the torso of the first Jedi_HM skin I worked on.

Well.... I did a little more...



It isn't much, I know... I'm considering making the brown parts color customizable and the white parts another color, but I haven't decided on either yet... Opinions on these two things would be greatly appreciated.
