| Recently the French have decided to ban the face veil that is used to cover the face of a muslim woman. It is said that this was done to protect the progressive policy of a womans equality. Is this ban right ?

| Lately, the French seem to defend the freedom of their citizens by banning lots of things, like crosses, burqas, etc.
It seems to be one of the symptoms of xenophobia. I hope I am wrong about that one.
Now, I personally would question their vision of *free* society. Because they seem to think that *free* does not include the right to express your faith, or tradition, publicly. As much as I understand that they do not hang crosses on the walls in schools and government buildings, etc, I do not understand why citizens are banned from wearing them (just like from wearing burqas or any other religious symbols) in such places. I believe such a ban to be a violation of human rights.
Also, I think they should remember that "freedom of one man ends, where begins the freedom of another".
EDIT:
@theariesfantasy - the ban includes Christian crosses, too.

| Let's just ban religion altogether in the world, and get rid of a large part of the world's problems... <.< | |

| wearing burqa (covering the face) is not compulsory but it is the women themselves who want to wear them. they are only required to cover the whole part of the body except the face and the hand. So basically, I don't agree with the banning. The sikh wear turban but people don't seem to ban them | |

How willing are you to put lives on the line with that trust Bombing or not, one can probably hide some stuff in there. Would you be happy if someone was packing a firearm under there and then used it ? - Quote :

Ridiculous Was their an explanation ? Or was it so they would not single anyone out ? Anyway even though it is a secrity risk, I don't think it should be banned . Don't they have machines they use in airports to see if you have a firearm on you ? Does the burqa protect against it ?
